Get Involved
The work of the BJL Foundation’s programs/projects/activities have been organized according to six thematic areas.
Spiritual Awakening and Revival
In the wake of the 2026 general elections, and judging from the threat to the peace and security of the country, and the electoral violence that was experienced in the last general election (2021), the Foundation has embarked on a countrywide prayer campaign led by Bishop Joshua Lwere himself to: firstly, mobilize the body of Christ to pray against a repeat of the unfortunate events of 2021, and secondly, to ensure continuous fervent prayer through active and effective altars across the country at individual, family, marketplace, parish, sub-county, district/ city, sub-regional, and national levels.
Good Governance
Uganda’s system of governance is a decentralized system, established by the 1995 Constitution and formalized by the Local Government Act of 1997, which devolves administrative powers and the implementation of government programs to local governments. The goal is to improve democratic participation and service delivery by shifting power from the central government, to local governments.
However, the decentralization policy, intended to bring services closer to the people and improve accountability, has instead localized widespread corrupt practices, a situation exacerbated by a lack of stewardship and financial accountability, weak institutional capacity, and political manipulation.
The Bishop Joshua Lwere Foundation’s Good Governance Program was designed to engage leaders across the local government structure right from the national level, to the district, sub-county, and parish levels targeting elected officials, Executive appointees, and civil servants including but not limited to: government ministers; permanent secretaries; heads of government departments and agencies; members of parliament; judicial officers at all levels, chairpersons at LC5, 3, 2, and 1; chief administrative officers, sub-county and parish chiefs, mayors, councillors, resident district commissioners, Uganda police, UPDF, etc.
Leadership Development
Bishop Joshua Lwere has over the years pioneered and/or spearheaded several leadership development initiatives targeting leaders from various sectors ranging from faith-based organisations, church leaders across all denominations, civil society organisations, private and public enterprises, government ministries, departments, and agencies, etc. The leadership development initiatives include but not limited to:
- The Global Leadership Summit (GLS)
- The Leadership Renewal Retreat (LRR)
- The iLead Program for Primary and Secondary Schools
- The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) for universities and other Tertiary Institutions implemented in collaboration with LIFE Ministry Uganda and Ministry of Education and Sports
The Foundation will continue to engage with these mechanisms and partner with like-minded initiatives to mentor and coach leaders from all sectors across all spheres of society as catalysts for transforming leaders, and consequently societies and nations.
Marketplace Dominion
The concept of marketplace dominion is a core tenet of the Seven Mountain Mandate, a strategy that aims to transform society by having believers in Jesus Christ take dominion and exert influence over seven key areas of society, namely: Faith and Religion, Family, Education, Government and Politics, Media, Arts and Entertainment, Business and Economics.
The core idea is that the marketplace, which encompasses all the seven spheres of influence, is the primary arena for Christians (believers in Jesus Christ) to exercise their God-given purpose and bring about societal change and subsequently national transformation.
Social and Economic Transformation
Through this program, the Foundation aims to achieve holistic community transformation by addressing the holistic needs (spiritual, social, and physical) through practical initiatives with a specific focus on poverty alleviation, job creation, and income generation.
The Foundation will undertake to ensure: affordable access to agricultural inputs and finance; promote sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices, and; reduce food loss and waste by promoting appropriate post-harvest handling mechanisms, including silos or storage facilities such as moisture-controlled warehouses, and agro-processing. It will accordingly implement interventions to enhance agricultural productivity and safe-guard farmers from counterfeit agro-inputs, promote access to micro-finance to help smallholder farmers afford the necessary agricultural production and processing resources. Partnerships will be sought with the Micro-finance Support Centre, the President’s Office including STI-OP, and other government development initiatives, PDM and Emyooga programs, as well as the private sector actors.
Resource Publications
The Foundation will also undertake to document and publish best practices to promote knowledge and experience sharing, and learning. This will include publication of books by Bishop Joshua Lwere, papers, and policy briefs on specific topics.
